Why Should You Use PLR Articles?….ummm, Because You’re a Sucker?

by the juice on February 21, 2009

Thanks for being a regular. Glad you are here!

Private Label Rights Articles (PLR) are a fantastic way to add new content to your website or blog and fill up your newsletter or autoresponder.

There are numerous PLR sites on the web. Some PLR membership websites even offer you content for pennies per article…so why should you choose PLRs?

You shouldn’t. Ever. I mean come on–Do you really need me to tell you this? Okay, I’ll be the heavy. Don’t use PLR articles.

Let’s for a moment pretend that we actually think things through to their possible end…ready?

You’ve just built your first niche website. You have plans to offer a killer eBook in about six months that will bring in some nice cash. But first you’ll need to develop your website and get it up there in the Google rankings. You are smart enough to know that with enough traffic, you are bound to get some sales. You also know that traffic will help your adsense account. After that you may even get advertisers on your site who will pay you each month for the privilege of having a clickable ad on your home page. From there on out, it’s a slippery slope–a money making avalanche.

Okay, not so fast. This is where the actual common sense should come into play.

Traffic means people. People visiting blogsites want to read things. People on blogsites have the ability to read. People on blogsites have some sort of intelligence level. ummm………okay, I’ll cut to the chase here:

If a person visits your lovely, flashy, professional looking niche website that is crammed with keyword saturated articles that make no sense, send no message, and teach them nothing new….hmmm, well, let’s just say that I’d put my money on them NOT buying your eBook.

Why am I against PLR’s? Because it was a dumb idea. Here, I’ll sell you this article that you can rewrite 25 different times and then put all 26 articles on your site. Then it will have CONTENT, right? Wrong…..Then it will be full of crap.

I am a freelance writer, copy writer, and editor. I have dabbled in doing some ‘editing’ recently of PLRs from various entrepreneurs. As I try desperately to make coherent sentences out of the obviously foreign written text, it amazes me that someone would pay money for anything like this.

Okay, so maybe everyone isn’t a writer. That’s understandable. So get some guest posts, pay a few freelancers to write something meaningful, or for God’s sake at least buy American. For your sake and for the protection of the poor people who will accidentally click on your site….don’t buy PLRs!

Exactly…they started out as a good thing but you would not believe the PLR’s that are sold from other countries that make no sense whatsoever. I deal with them all the time and can’t believe ppl would use them to saturate their site. Good comment though.

What about well-written PLR articles? There are plenty of writers who write well-written PLR articles and ebooks and they don’t deserve to be lumped into whatever this post is about. There are PLR articles, and they are not meant to be rewritten 25 times for one site. There are PLR ebooks that are given away or resold. There are PLR reports that are often used with autoresponders.

Awesome comment Adam,
Yes, I really should clarify here that PLR articles, poorly written are usually painful for any reader who happens upon them.
Products available for resale, I suppose are a different story…or are they? I will have to research and find out for myself. –The Juice

Just to make a side note here, This blog is referring to PLR ARTICLES. Articles that have been poorly written, over saturated or simply do not make sense.

You can still purchase unique, well formed articles that are written for you, these cost a lot more to acquire, but what quality item doesn’t cost that little more?

Lastly, PLR is an awesome conception, just remember it is not limited to articles, which really is the weakest area of PLR… Don’t listen to me though, many successful affiliates and online marketers will tell you PLR is how they all got started! Whether it be software, e-books or other areas. Why do I know? Because I read, in fact, I have 2 new books (paperback) on order and can’t wait for them to be delivered!

Good luck bloggers!

Here, Here!! PLRs are one of the worst mistakes a business or entrepreneur can make, seriously. Visiting those horrible sites is like going to the library only to find that the only reading materials they offer are cereal boxes…from the 1980s.

I’m also a writer and editor.
