Okay…so the boss is giving you the stink-eye and every time he passes your desk you try to tell yourself that everything is okay, you are not losing your job, and the company is doing fine…
And now we take a brief intermission to welcome you to the real world.
The economy is falling like a lead balloon. And you really might lose your job. So what do you do to prepare for what may lie ahead? What is there to invest in? Where can safety be found? Well think back a few years. First, all eyes were on the Stock Market…FAIL.
Next, all pockets emptied to gobble up property…FAIL.
Suddenly, many are realizing that a stable income can be made online. Working from home is just as real as punching a time clock. Yes, this is true. And with every passing day, more are jumping on the online marketing bandwagon–some because they choose to and some because they have found themselves cleaning out their desks after receiving their ticket to freedom in the form of a pink slip.
If this sounds like you, welcome to online business. I’d like to tell you that within a week or two you will be pulling in some serious income, but I can’t. Online business is here to stay, but just like everything else, it is going to take dedication, determination, and some serious motivation on your part.
Do I make money online? Yes I do. How long did it honestly take me? Over a year. I dabbled and played, stuck my foot in here, there and everywhere…and then I got serious. When I got serious and started to educate myself about online marketing, everything fell into place.
I’m about to give you some excellent advice. If you take it, you may succeed…if not, good luck to you. The formula for success online is simple, but very few are following the formula. Ready? Okay, here it is:
- Find a niche. Something you love. Something you can live, eat, breathe and become an absolute expert on. Here’s a clue: It’s probably something you already are involved in. Example, if your name is Lance Armstrong and you want to start an online business, probably choosing roofing supplies is not your best option. Get it?
- Get your domain name. Get your blog going. Start writing intelligent content and learn everything you can about online marketing and social media. Yep, it’s learn, learn, learn, learn, learn…..Don’t like it? Then this is not for you. It is a proven fact that most millionaires read 7-10 books per year. So you think you are going to put up a website and instantly make a killing? Good luck with that.
- Follow successful people. There are plenty of blogs out there that will give you cutting edge information on marketing, writing content that will get you in the Google rankings, and information on how to develop a following. Start with these sites. You will learn at warp speed:
Those will give you a solid start. After that it’s up to you.
If you spend much of your time lurking around on forums, ordering every eBook you can get your hands on, and downloading every keyword and niche generating tool you can find, but you still aren’t making any solid progress with your own business, then you need to ask yourself, why.
Like I said, the formula is simple….
Choose a niche, immerse yourself in it, and from there it’s learn and do, learn and do.
Six weeks from now your blog shouldn’t look exactly like it does right now. If it does, you need to kick yourself. Learning isn’t enough. You must learn and DO.
Remember the kids who went to college for seven years but never became anything? We used to call them professional students. There is a point in every business and life venture when it’s time to make the next move.
