BLOGGING JOBS (week of April 23)
A Natural Health Website & Blog
is looking for an Awesome Health Writer / Blogger (Ghost Writer) :: $25 per post
Description
:::::::::::::::::ABOUT US:::::::::::::::::
This is for a health blog focused on natural healing for digestion. We gather and send you the topic along with articles / scientific studies, and you distill it into a post. We pay $25/post for 500-800 word posts.
:::::::::::::::::ABOUT YOU:::::::::::::::::
You need to be an awesome writer – one who learns fast, simplifies complex concepts, delivers high quality content on time, and can write in a professional, yet friendly style.
::::::::::::YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES::::::::::::
Write articles:
- Meet with us over skype/phone for a quick discussion of the main ideas (Don’t worry, you don’t have to dress up – we care about your work, not your look. Plus, we keep the meeting very short and focused, since we don’t like to waste anyone’s time)
- Synthesize articles/scientific studies (we’ll send them to you according to topic) into posts.
- Write posts that are 500-800 words long.
- Structure the info in an easily digestible format (i.e. make it scannable by using headings / short paragraphs / lists.)
- Use basic knowledge of SEO (judiciously add keywords in body copy and headlines)
Maintain Writing Style:
- Create snappy headlines.
- Have perfect use of the English language, including excellent grammar/spelling.
- Maintain a friendly, personal, yet professional style. A small touch of humor is a-ok.
- Give the maximum amount of information with the least amount of words. (You know it takes time to edit things to be simple and easy to read.)
Edit and Post Articles:
- Edit your 1st draft based on our notes (we usually work/edit via Google Docs).
- Add 2nd/final draft to Wordpress on approval.
- Pick a few blog post photos for us to choose from (we use istockphoto) and add to Wordpress the one we choose/buy and send to you.
- Intelligently link post content to related subject matter (as footlinks) and/or to related posts in the same blog
- Assign one primary and a few sub-categories to each post
- Tag all posts
1) Email us here: trk7iy2frnins8t@jetable.org
2) Add this phrase to the email’s subject line to confirm you can follow directions: “HealthSiteApp”
3) Send blog post samples (400-800 words long). Bonus for posts in the health field.
4) Here’s our hiring process:
First, we’ll do a quick and friendly interview over Skype video/phone.
If that goes well, we’ll get started on your first trial post, for which we’ll pay you $25 via Paypal.
If we like what you’ve done, then the work will be ongoing. Possibly forever.

ARTICLE: Selling Your Poetry, Yes You Can
By Susan Sundwall
Since the beginning of 2009 I’ve received four contracts for poems. I’m only a part time poet. Whoever is contending for the next Poet Laureate of our country has absolutely nothing to fear from me. But I put the occasional rhyme or poem together and have sold several. Maybe you’d like to move some of your own poetry into the marketplace and wonder what my magic formula is. Um – well – there isn’t one but I can tell you what flavors of poems I’ve sold with tips and markets to follow.
Kids Poems
These are the most fun to do and each one that I’ve sold is a rhyming poem. They’ve all been short and have a specific focus, like this one for a rainy day.
Here in my room
With friends I play
The best way to spend
A rainy day
Holidays
Holidays lend themselves so perfectly to poetry. A recent sale to Standard Publishing for the Fourth of July begins like this:
High waves the flag
Over people and nation
A red, white and blue
Grand celebration
I go on to mention liberty, God, rockets – you know – the whole shebang. It’s another rhymer but it’s intended
for use in a church program setting and for my editor, it worked.
Romance
I was positively stunned when my complimentary copy arrived and I realized my poem was the only one in the
magazine. I highlighted a situation dozens of women have been in – waiting in a restaurant for a date to show up – and gave it about twelve lines. This poem was easy to write when I focused on the annoyance of waiting countered by the delightful melting of the heart when the dinner date finally shows up. The editor snapped it up and he’s considering another I sent a few weeks ago.
Nostalgia
My poem for Good Old Days magazine focuses on a summer picnic. I was born in upstate Minnesota, the land of
10,000 lakes. I have many idealized notions about summer, toasting marshmallows over a lakeside campfire and the
looming specter of autumn at the end of August. I incorporated all of these into a poem titled, The Last Picnic of Summer, and sold it.
Tips
From my own personal experience selling poems I offer these simple tips:
Study your target publication and strive to set a mood and tone that will appeal to the demographic peculiarto that publication. Don’t send a saucy limerick to Highlights for Children for instance.
Ask someone to listen to your poem as you read it. You may be surprised and pleased at the response you get.
If you’ve touched that person, you’ll touch others. Write your poems when the moment strikes. Beautiful sunset? Romantic boat ride? Wild and crazy puppy? Let the visions created by these scenarios come out in verse.
Have fun with your words and it will show in your end product.
When you’ve got your brave up and are ready to submit your work, try one of these markets:

I write poems when the poetry muse taps me on the shoulder and maybe you do, too. Why not let the rest
of the world see what you’ve penned and earn a little something for your effort
